Hello everyone, last week I shared with you about the president works year-round without breaks. How much is their salary? Recently, many events have unfolded in Taiwan. From the new president stating that the Republic of China (Taiwan) and the People's Republic of China are two separate countries, which angered the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), leading to military exercises around Taiwan, to pressuring Taiwanese artists working in China to pick sides. In the Legislative Yuan, fights broke out among legislators over parliamentary reform bills, prompting protests on the streets. However, these events are far from over. In Taichung, there was even a random stabbing incident on the subway, fortunately without any fatalities. So this week, I'd like to share something lighter. A Taiwanese variety show called "Muyao4 Super Playing" documented the outgoing President Tsai Ing-wen's year-long schedule. Hosted by renowned presenter Tai Chih-yuan, the show followed the president to various places, offering a behind-the-scenes look from the perspective of a presidential aide. Today, let's learn Chinese through the variety show and see what the Taiwan president has been up to.
Video Introduction
The series "Muyao4 Super Playing" has a segment called "One-Day Series," challenging different professions for 365 days. The latest addition is the "One-Day Presidential Aide 365," have 4 episodes, which follow the president's activities from the perspective of an aide whose job mainly involves planning and confirming the president's schedule. These videos were shot from May 2023 to May 2024, the last year of President Tsai Ing-wen's tenure. Throughout these videos, you can see the president participating in various Taiwanese events, including the famous Baisha Temple Mazu Pilgrimage, the presidential election, this year's May 20th presidential inauguration ceremony, as well as visits from foreign dignitaries, such as the President of Paraguay, and the president's trip to Swaziland, among others. You can also catch glimpses of Air Force One and the presidential residence.
Personal Thoughts
Having watched these videos myself, I echo what I mentioned in an article on President Tsai Ing-wen's approval ratings a few weeks ago. Despite Taiwan facing numerous challenges, I can feel that the country is progressing. Watching these videos, I can see the immense dedication of the president and her aides who work tirelessly year-round. These videos come with English subtitles, so for those interested in the topic, you can watch them on YouTube and learn Chinese in the process.
